Muhammad & Miracles:-

The most surprising 'revelation' in the Quran is the fact that it does not contain a single report of any MIRACLE PERFORMED by Muhammad.

On the contrary, in several verses - more than twenty of them - they deny him the ability to perform any, just to prove either the existence of Allah or to impress the pagans so that they may convert.

All these verses assert THREE things:

that he was human,

that he was a warner and later

the messenger of Allah.

Not even once does the Quran ever imply that he was a MIRACLE WORKER. In fact in this Quran, the interpreter did not use the Arabic word for Miracle
'Mu'jizat/ A'joubat', not even once.

6:48        We send the Apostles only to give good news [mubashireena] and to warn [munthireena]: so those who believe and mend (their lives) upon them shall be no fear nor shall they grieve.

*** Many verses of the Quran preclude the need for miracles yet the Ahadith are full of them.

This is of course a serious and unacceptable contradiction since if Muhammad did  perform miracles, they would have been recorded in the Quran.

All the alleged miracles in the Hadiths were created by his followers to give him a stature similar to that of Moses ***

6: 50        Say: "I tell you not that with me are the treasures of Allah nor do I know what is hidden [a'lamu al ghaiba] nor do I tell you I am an angel [malak].  I but follow what is revealed to me."  Say: "Can the blind be held equal to the seeing?"  Will ye then consider not?

7: 188         Say: "I have no power over any good or harm to myself except as Allah willeth.  If I had knowledge of the unseen I should have multiplied all good and no evil should have touched me I am but a warner [natheeru] and a bringer of glad tidings [basheeru] to those who have faith."

13:7 " And the unbelievers say: Why is not a sign sent down to him from his Lord? But thou art truly a warner [muntheeru], and to every people a guide" .

***These verses explain very clearly the function of Muhammad:
he is ONLY a warner and definitely not a miracle worker ***

17: 90 They say: "We shall not believe in thee until thou cause spring to gush forth for us from the earth 91 "Or (until) thou have a garden of date trees and vines and cause rivers to gush forth in their midst carrying abundant water; 92        "Or thou cause the sky to fall in pieces as thou sayest (will happen) against us; or thou bring Allah and the angels before (us) face to face; 93        "Or thou have a house adorned with gold or thou mount a ladder right into the skies.  No we shall not even believe in thy mounting until thou send down to us a book that we could read." Say: "Glory to my Lord! am I aught but a man an apostle"

94        What kept men back from Belief when Guidance came to them was nothing but this: they said "Has Allah sent a man like us) to be (His) Apostle [Rasoola]?"
***The demand by the Qurayshites for miraculous proofs - similar to those made by Moses to the Isrealites - is understandable both from the cultural and the psychological points of view.

The Quraysh could not accept, that a mere human being, a less than equal to their nobility, could claim such superiority as Muhammad did. They needed tangible and clear proofs that Allah was on his side as he claimed***

18: 110        Say: "I am but a man like yourselves (but) the inspiration [youhi] has come to me that your God [Ilahakum] is one God [Ilahan]  whoever expects to meet his Lord [Rabbhi] let him work righteousness and in the worship of his Lord admit no one as partner."

*** Muhammad denies his need to demonstrate miracles because he only gets inspirations.

All the stories of such 'miracles' were invented and concocted years later by his followers in the Ahadith***

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 1.454        Narrated byAnas bin Malik
Two of the companions of the Prophet departed from him on a dark night and were led by two lights like lamps (going in front of them from Allah as a miracle) lighting the way in front of them, and when they parted, each of them was accompanied by one of these lights till he reached their (respective) houses.

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 4.831        Narrated byAnas
That the Meccan people requested Allah's Apostle to show them a miracle, and so he showed them the splitting of the moon.

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 5.208        Narrated byAnas bin Malik
The people of Mecca asked Allah's Apostle to show them a miracle. So he showed them the moon split in two halves between which they saw the Hiram' mountain.

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 6.387        Narrated byIbn Masud
During the lifetime of Allah's Apostle the moon was split into two parts; one part remained over the mountain, and the other part went beyond the mountain. On that, Allah's Apostle said, "Witness this miracle."

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 6.388        Narrated byAbdullah
The moon was cleft asunder while we were in the company of the Prophet, and it became two parts. The Prophet said, "Witness, witness (this miracle)."

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 6.390        Narrated byAnas
The people of Mecca asked the Prophet to show them a sign (miracle). So he showed them (the miracle) of the cleaving of the moon.

*** These outrageous claims totally contradict of course the Quranic assertion that Muhammad could not perform MIRACLES.

The story of the splitting of the Moon is based upon a verse in the Quran which has nothing to do with any miracle performedby Muhammad ***

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 8.115        Narrated byAnas
A man came to the Prophet on a Friday while he (the Prophet) was delivering a sermon at Medina, and said, "There is lack of rain, so please invoke your Lord to bless us with the rain." The Prophet looked at the sky when no cloud could be detected. Then he invoked Allah for rain. Clouds started gathering together and it rained till the Medina valleys started flowing with water. It continued raining till the next Friday. Then that man (or some other man) stood up while the Prophet was delivering the Friday sermon, and said, "We are drowned; Please invoke your Lord to withhold it (rain) from us." The Prophet smiled and said twice or thrice, "O Allah! Please let it rain round about us and not upon us." The clouds started dispersing over Medina to the right and to the left, and it rained round about Medina and not upon Medina. Allah showed them (the people) the miracle of His Prophet and His response to his invocation.

*** This incredibly stupid claim of the 'miracle' of the splitting of the moon - a cosmic event of catastrophic significance - was only observed it seems, in Arabia and only by Muhammad and his entourage in Mecca. None of the great civilizations of the time were able to observe this event nor were they aware of it to report it. Presumably, the moon was eventually 'put together'.

These stories of alleged miracles were invented by his followers years after his death to make him appear superhuman and semi divine despite the fact that both the Quran and other Ahadith firmly deny that Muhammad was able to perform any miracles.

Most important of all, they totally CONTRADICT the Quranic assertions as shown above that Muhammad was ONLY a messenger and NOT a Miracle Worker ***

Sahih Al-Bukhari HadithHadith 9.379 & 6.504        Narrated byAbu Huraira
The Prophet said, "There was no prophet among the prophets but was given miracles because of which people had security or had belief, but what I was given was the Divine Inspiration which Allah revealed to me. So I hope that my followers will be more than those of any other prophet on the Day of Resurrection."

*** This admission by Muhammad shows clearly that he was not party to any miracles, which is contrary to all the lies that were created about him by his followers after his death.

It is estremely important to point out to the reader, that every single alleged  miracle in the Ahadith that Muhammad was a party to, was never witnessed by anyone else but himself; invariably in darkness or at night. All of Muhammad's alleged encounters with the angel Gabriel were also not witnessed by a second party.

All of Muhammad's 'miracles' are in contradistinction to the fact that the miracles of Moses were conducted in full view of Israelites and the Egyptians in broad daylight.

Another incredible difference is the fact that the miracles of Moses were forewarned while those of Muhammad - the verses - were afterthoughts and coveniently 'revealed' AFTER the events had taken place.

For example, before any of the miracles befell Egypt, Pharaoh was warned of exactly what was going to happen to his country if he refused God's commands.

In the case of Muhammad no such forewarnings are mentioned.

Whereas in the Bible, the Almighty never abrogated a verse or changed
'His Mind', in the Quran, there are at least 71 Surahs with a plethora of abrogated and abrogating verses alleging that the Omniscient Allah, repeatedly changed
'his mind', and invariably to 'lessen the burden on the followers of Muhammad' or to satisfy any of Muhammad's personal needs ***
